The mission of IFFAAD is "To be a focal point for the exchange of ideas and promotion of matters of public interest in aviation and development worldwide".
To carry out this mission, it is to encourage and facilitate cooperation between the actors and policy-makers (international organizations, governments, industry, etc.) in the various sectors, such as airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, aerospace manufacturers, tourism, and commerce.
It is also to foster a constructive dialogue regarding aviation and development amongst members of academia, universities, professionals, students and interested individuals.
As a focal point, IFFAAD is called upon to play a complementary role in assisting organizations such as ICAO, IATA, ACI, CANSO as well as national regulators in relevant aviation issues.
The vision of IFFAAD is "To foster and facilitate cooperation in areas of contemporary challenges of the civil aviation sector, and to promote the role of aviation as a catalyst for economic and social development".
The issues that are addressed by IFFAAD include the safety, security and environmental protection issues of civil aviation, as well as the balanced growth and global convergence of the air transport sector in the context of sustainable socio-economic development.
For this purpose, IFFAAD has been, inter alia, promoting and organizing joint meetings with the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Alumni Association of the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University under the name of Montreal International Aviation Club.
In relation to the younger generation of aviation professionals, IFFAAD also seeks to engage in educational activities, advocacy and awareness creation regarding civil aviation and in particular the synergistic relationship between aviation and development.
